Hi,
I just left a comment about your Eglu, then realized I could contact you here. Do you still like your Eglu. We are getting chickens next month and really want a Eglu go. There are no reviews that I have seen so your feedback would be awesome!
Thanks,
Emily
Hi Emily, YES! Get the Eglu! I love mine. Love it. These are my first chickens, and the Eglu is like a security blanket for me. If I had attempted to build something myself, I would have been constantly worried about predators digging in or sneaking in and eating the chickens, or things being too drafty or not ventilated enough, etc, etc. I find the Eglu ridiculously easy to take care of… cleaning it out (which I usually do each weekend) takes about five minutes, I dump the bedding, hose it out, wait for it to dry, and am done. I love that I can drag it all over my yard and use chickens as weed control. The chickens seem to love it, too. I’m trying to think of downfalls…. hmm. You obviously can’t get inside the run- one of my chickens laid her egg in the run and I had to move the whole thing to reach it (then again, in over six months that is the only time I’ve needed to get in there). Yes, it is crazy expensive, but I still vote yes. In fact, I vote all caps YES. It has held up superbly so far, and really has made keeping chickens so easy. Hope that helps. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have about it! -kara
Hi Kara,
It’s your cousin Katie my mom gave me your blog info. I started reading from June 2010 and worked my way to January 2012 it took a few hours but it was like a good book you couldn’t put down. It looks like your doing great! I am going to try the baking soad in my hair, don’t know how it will work since I dye my hair to hide the gray, but I will let you know.. Keep in touch! Miss you
Katie
Hi, your blog came up when I googled info about setting up a box of bees into a hive, and i’m in love with your blog! I so have to start one myself. We have similar interests–chickens and bees and the urban ghetto farm thing. What area are you in? I’m in Sacramento. I hope we can be in touch and get to be cyberblog friends. ~Eliz
